Dancing the Elements

The program is conceived as a unified cycle: registration is for all four sessions, and it is not possible to register for or attend individual sessions.
Four conscious movement practices through Fire, Water, Air, and Earth.
Over the course of four sessions, we will dance the cycle of Fire, Water, Air, and Earth, exploring twelve original musical tracks, each approximately twenty minutes long, created especially for this cycle by sound researcher Federico Milanesi.
Each session, one element.
Each element, three tracks.
Each track, one phase in a symbolic, evolutionary, and expressive progression.
In the first session, we will explore the Fire Principle.
We will begin with Aries, the spark of the Beginning; then vibrate with Leo, the blaze that flares up; and finally arrive at Sagittarius: flame and ember, the fire that continues on its journey.
In the second session, we will explore the Water Principle.
We will begin with Cancer, the spring; then enter Scorpio, the swamp; and finally immerse ourselves in the ocean of Pisces.
In the third session, we will explore the Air Principle.
We will begin with Gemini, discovering the space between sky and earth; then dance the polarity of opposites in Libra; and finally integrate space and oscillation within the unitary progression of Aquarius.
In the fourth session, we will explore the Earth Principle.
We will begin with the receptivity of Taurus; with Virgo, we will then enter the power of fertilized earth, of form already transcending matter; and finally complete the cycle of creation in Capricorn, generator of new life.
The journey thus becomes a small danced cosmogony: a “cycle of cycles” in which generation, continuity, and absorption follow one another and transform through our bodies and our breath.
Note: If there is interest, Dancing the Elements will be followed, on a date yet to be determined, by a second conscious movement offering. Over the course of a full day, the twelve tracks will this time be grouped in sets of four, giving rise to three dances of approximately ninety minutes each, corresponding to the three astrological Crosses: cardinal, fixed, and mutable. The same musical material will thus be experienced through a completely different architecture, capable of generating a new perception of the entire cycle. This, incidentally, was the structure Federico Milanesi originally envisioned when he created for me his powerful “astrological tracks”: compositions that explain – and at the same time unfold – in music and in symbolic terms the mystery of the birth of the universe and of universal creation.
Language: The universal one of music.
Where: In the Sala Mammut, in the Area 302 spaces, in via Cadepiano 18, Barbengo.
When: four weekly sessions, Thursday, October 15, 22, and 29, and Thursday, November 5, from 7:00 to approximately 8:30 p.m.
Contribution: 100 for the full cycle of four consecutive sessions, payable at the first session.
Clothing: Comfortable clothing, suitable for body practices. It is possible to change clothes on the spot but not to shower. Always provide for the possibility of adding or removing a layer.
