“Diversodachi?” at Area 302

24.03.2026 - Massimiliano Sassoli de Bianchi

On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, Area 302 had the pleasure of hosting in the Mammut Hall the theatrical performance “Diversodachi?”, written and performed by Emanuele Santoro, in collaboration with the Barbengo Middle School. The second-year classes attended two performances, one in the morning and one in the early afternoon, both followed with great attention and engagement.

The work is based on texts, diaries, and testimonies by Gianmaria Terrani and his father Graziano Terrani, offering an intimate and profound portrait of their life experience and their commitment to promoting the value of cognitive diversity. From a staging perspective, the performance was enriched by live music by Claudia Klinzing, while Antonella Barrera served as assistant director, contributing to the overall success of the production.

Both Gianmaria and Graziano were present at the two performances, making the encounter even more meaningful through their direct testimony. The project for the preservation and enhancement of cognitive diversity that they have promoted, developed in collaboration with the State Archives of the Canton of Ticino through the Cognitive Diversity Archive Association, represents an important cultural and social initiative.

The title “Diversodachi?” suggests a reflection on the very concept of diversity, questioning the idea of a clear separation between what is considered “normal” and what is not. However, listening to and reading the thoughts expressed by Gianmaria in his writings also led to another consideration: in a certain sense, his voice is indeed different, since not many people are able to articulate with such intensity and authenticity such a profound vision of the human experience. In this apparent tension between universality and singularity lies one of the most moving aspects of the performance.

The day unfolded in the best possible way, in a spirit of attentive listening and shared reflection. Area 302 is pleased to have hosted this event, which fits within a broader spirit of collaboration with local educational institutions and reflects a commitment to promoting cultural initiatives capable of inspiring meaningful reflection among younger generations.
